Sinopec has made a major discovery of "lithium" resources in its exploration of Triassic marine strata in the Sichuan Basin. The Sichuan Basin has been a key area for SINOPEC's oil and gas development, where SINOPEC has discovered a number of large gas fields, such as the Hexing gas field, the Puguang gas field, the Fuling shale gas field, and the Weirong deep shale gas field, etc. In addition, SINOPEC has made significant discoveries of potassium and lithium resources during exploration in the Triassic marine layer.

In addition, during SINOPEC's exploration, the research team discovered that the brine layer in the Puguang area of the Sichuan Basin contains a large amount of lithium. The Sichuan Xuandi 1 and Sichuan Xuandi 2 wells in Xuanhan County, Dazhou City, Sichuan Province, respectively, explored a new type of high-grade, soluble quarry salt, heterosexual, and confirmed that the lithium content of this formation far exceeds the industrial grade.

Regarding the exploitation of this potassium and lithium resource, SINOPEC indicated that it will steadily promote the exploration and comprehensive development and utilization of lithium and potassium resources.
