How to accurately test the purity of lithium carbonate in industry?

In industrial production, the testing of lithium carbonate purity is a key step to ensure product quality. The following are several commonly used detection methods:

1. Chemical analysis method: including acid-base titration, which is a traditional means of detection. By weighing a certain amount of lithium carbonate sample, put it into a conical flask, and then titrate it with a strong acid solution of known concentration until the lithium carbonate reacts completely. According to the volume of acid consumed, the content of lithium carbonate can be calculated. The detection error of this method is usually around ±0.3%.

2. Gravimetric analysis: This method analyses the purity of lithium carbonate through the determination of precipitation mass. Lithium carbonate and specific reagents to generate a precipitate, after washing, drying and other steps, the use of high-precision balance weighing precipitate mass, so as to deduce the purity of lithium carbonate, the error is controlled at about ± 0.5%.

3. Atomic Absorption Spectrometry: This is a highly sensitive detection method, in which lithium carbonate samples are atomised at high temperatures, and then specific wavelengths of light are used to pass through the atomic group to measure the energy absorbed by the lithium atoms, thus determining the lithium content. This method can detect ppm level impurities, and the accuracy of purity determination exceeds 99%.

4. Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS): This is a highly sensitive detection technique that can quickly ionise the sample and separate the ions according to the mass-to-charge ratio, with a lower detection limit of up to ppt level, which is suitable for the detection of high purity lithium carbonate.

5. On-line detection system: With the development of industrial automation, on-line detection system can collect real-time sample data in the production line, rapid calculation and comparison, once the purity is detected to deviate from the preset standard, the system will automatically adjust the parameters of the production equipment to ensure product quality.

Through these methods, industrial production can well control the purity of lithium carbonate to ensure that the product meets the requirements of specific applications.
