Recently, in the Jingmen launched the “search for minerals action”, the new discovery of important mineral resources, including phosphate, lithium ore and shale gas. These discoveries are located in the transition zone from the hills to the plains, and are rich in stratigraphy, providing Jingmen with advantages and great potential for the development of the mining economy. The municipal government attaches great importance to this operation and has actively declared several mineral projects to the Provincial Department of Natural Resources and sought policy support to enhance its internal resource supply capacity. The city's phosphate mines are mainly located in Huji Town and Phosphorus Town in Zhongxiang City, while newly discovered lithium resources are concentrated in Zhongxiang City and Dongbao District. Dongbao District recently detected high-quality clay-type lithium ore, the ore body extends from the surface to the underground, providing a solid resource base for the city's lithium industry. In addition, ongoing exploration is underway in areas where shale gas prospecting rights have been obtained to identify resources, while phosphorus and manganese ore surveys are also underway.
